Where did the Yellow Cab Company first start?
John Hertz (Hertz Rental Car Company namesake) was a successful auto salesman in Chicago in 1907. Trade-ins became a problem, so he painted them yellow (so they would stand out from the common black cars of the time) and used them as cabs. Eight years later, Hertz founded the Yellow Cab Company and began designing and manufacturing cabs under the Yellow Cab and Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Company name.
